The Esmecke-Stausee is located in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge Nature Park, northwest of the village of Wenholthausen. The reservoir belongs to the municipality of Eslohe and was built in 1971 using rockfill.
This picturesque lake offers swimming fun for all ages, as the water warms up quickly. With a large sunbathing area located along an adjacent cove, there is plenty of space to relax. Safety is also ensured by the DLRG station. The lake not only offers swimming opportunities but is also open to anglers. The rest stop at Einbergsee is staffed.
