If you happen to be cycling along the RuhrtalRadweg, you’ll pass by the former railroad depot. The monument to the railroad water tower serves as a reminder of the importance of the Bestwig station to the Ruhrtalbahn in the 1960s. Between 1870 and 1873, the town—which at the time had only seven residential buildings—got its own train station. Until 1960, this depot played a major role, especially during the steam locomotive era. You can learn more about this significant monument from the information panel next to it.
