The gardens at Schloss Hovestadt are a valuable example of a late French-style garden from the mid-18th century. The gardens, as they appear today following the completion of three years of restoration work in the summer of 1997, were likely laid out between 1740 and 1760.

The Baroque design featured sightlines, symmetry, and cell-like enclosures—the garden sections consist of an inner and an outer area.
