Bad Berleburg Location - View of Berleburg Castle
Berleburg Castle has been inhabited by the zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg family for more than 750 years. This “vibrant atmosphere” gives the noble residence its special character. A guided tour of the castle offers a glimpse into the banquet halls, the grand hall, the chapel, and several private chambers, among other things.
The noble family is distinguished by the long history of the princely house, its ties to the region, and its commitment to the land and its people. Visitors from Denmark, in particular, enjoy staying there ever since Princess Benedikte, the younger sister of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, has been living at the castle following her marriage to Richard zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg. The ambiance also provides a stylish setting for concerts. During the Advent and Christmas season, the estate attracts several thousand visitors to Bad Berleburg.
In addition to the orangery, Berleburg Castle also features a beautiful castle park. The centuries-old trees, the lovely walking trail, and the large ponds invite visitors to linger. Young visitors especially enjoy feeding the ducks.
